A free workshop will be held this Wednesday at Mitchel Park for all students who wish to get rid of stress during the holiday season.
With SATs, exams, college applications, many teenagers are overwhelmed by academic pressures. Coupled with parental expectations, students are being swamped with stress. This workshop will allow for students and parents to share their expectations and worries with each other and the available counselors.
Under Pressure has been put together by the Palo Alto Youth Council, who "after brainstorming and asking other students in the district, decided that parental pressure causes a lot of the stress that teens have," Paly junior Jillian Liu of PAYC said. "Unfortunately, parental pressure is unintentional but it happens, so this forum is designed to inform the parents and try to get them to acknowledge that they are causing their kids to suffer!"
The meeting will be from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Mitchell Park and free food will be available for all attendees. Keynote speaker Dr. Philippe Rey, executive director of Adolescent Counseling Service, will reveal different solutions for reducing stress.
