A Thanksgiving Feast & Festival sponsored by the PTSA benefiting local food kitchens and charities will be held in the Paly quad during an extended lunch next Tuesday, Nov. 15.
Students, staff and participating parents are welcome to attend the community-building event. Each diner is asked to either bring three items from a list provided by the charity (listed at the bottom of this story) or $4 for dinner plus $1 for a drink. The planned menu consists of turkey, Marie Callender dressing and gravy, fresh tossed salad, cranberry sauce, rolls, and delicious home-baked pie, all donated by parents, staff and other community members. Vegetarians may substitute the turkey with a baked potato served with cheese if desired.
The PTSA expects to serve over 800 dinners and earn money and supplies to give to local charities such as the Ecumenical Hunger Program. The event aims to be a positive experience where students can enjoy a great meal and build a strong Paly community while providing for those who are less fortunate. The Paly Jazz Band will provide entertainment while hungry staff and students enjoy their lunch, and the Paly Art Club is creating a hay sculpture to add to the Thanksgiving ambiance.
The Thanksgiving Feast and Festival, held at Gunn for the past five years, has been met with resounding success. The Gunn community is preparing for a turnout of 1000 students, staff, and parents to its feast this year.
