If you couldn’t make it to Coachella this year, kick off your summer concert season by attending the 20th annual BFD (Big F—ing Day) Festival hosted by Live 105, June 1 at the Shoreline Amphitheater. The festival will feature artists Foster the People, Phantogram, M.I.A, Fitz and the Tantrums and the New Politics on the BFD 2014 Mainstage, along with two other supporting stages.
The festival focuses on a variety of indie and alternative music, bringing in big names including M.I.A and Phantogram mixed with lesser known and upcoming artists like Walk the Moon, Birds of Tokyo and MS MR. The Bud Light Festival Stage will feature artists Walk the Moon, MS MR, KONGOS, Bleachers, Cherub, Birds of Tokyo, SKATERS and Semi Precious Weapons, with the Bud Light Platinum Subsonic Stage presenting RAC, The Knocks and White Noise.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing Fitz and the Tantrums play and also Phantogram,” says Paly senior Evan Powers. “BFD has always been a notable festival to go to in the Bay, but the lineup this year has improved immensely.”
An alternate music entertainment option is the Bottle Rock Music festival, taking place in Napa, CA and starting on the same date. The festival focuses on alternative music and features artists like Outkast, Weezer, Third Eye Blind and Sublime.
BFD’s festival doors open at 11 a.m., with music beginning at 11:30 a.m. on the Bud Light stages and at 5:40 p.m. at the Main Stage.
“I am looking forward to almost all the acts but the act I am most looking forward to is Walk the Moon,” says Paly senior Heather Strathearn. “I think Paly kids like this festival in particular because it has some really cool alternative bands that appeal to a younger audience.”
