Yet another Teen Arts Council-sponsored Open Mic Night will occur at 7 p.m. tomorrow at the Palo Alto Children’s Theatre at the Lucie Stern Community Center, and will feature some Valentine’s Day acts in addition to the usual performances.
Open Mic Nights give high school students the opportunity to perform in front of their peers in a low-key environment.
This year, Open Mic Nights have attracted large numbers of people, according to senior Corbin Dodd, who regularly performs at them with his band in addition to helping lead the nights.
“Open Mics have been going very well,” Dodd said. “They’ve actually been so popular that we’ve had to start limiting the number of sets that people can perform in. We’ve gotten lots of new, very talented acts, and we’ve broken our previous attendance records.”
As for the Open Mic Night tomorrow, which is also Valentine’s Day, Dodd expects some special acts to take place.
“This Friday should be a fairly typical Open Mic, though since it is Valentine’s Day, people can expect a love theme in some acts,” Dodd said.
