With the preseason behind them, the Palo Alto High School Girls’ Basketball team (7-5-0) is plunging into league by going up against Los Gatos High School (8-3-0) at 7 p.m. tonight at Los Gatos High School.
The Vikings got off to a rocky start in the beginning of the preseason by forfeiting their first two wins due to playing an ineligible player. This setback did not stop the Vikings and they improved their record to 7-5.
“We performed well during preseason,” senior Charlotte Alipate said. “We learned our strengths and most importantly our weaknesses. We’ve all learned more about each other as individuals and we’ve built a much stronger team chemistry which is great.”
Gearing towards their first league game tonight, the Vikings are looking to implement what they have learned, according to Alipate.
The Vikings have set high standards for the upcoming league season.
“Being that we are underdogs in this league,” Alipate said. “We are setting out to win league and [are] really just determined to go out there and play Paly basketball. So I’m pretty excited to see what we can do this season during league.”
