The Palo Alto High School girls’ varsity soccer team will play its first rivalry game of the season at 4 p.m. Saturday at home. The Gunn High School Titans will be visiting for the two teams’ only regular season match.
Paly is currently 1-2 with close losses to Carlmont and Menlo-Atherton High Schools, but the Vikings bounced back with a confident 2-0 win over San Benito High School last week. Sophomore Nika Woodfill, junior Aoi Sugihara and junior Katherine Shan are tied for leading their team in goals, each with one goal apiece.
Gunn started off its season with a 3-1 win over Gunderson High School, and boasts a 1-0 record.
Senior Megan Tall is anticipating the match with excitement.
“I’m definitely looking forward to it,” Tall said. “The rivalry means a lot. We beat them last year and really want to continue our winning streak.”
The next chapter in this obstinate rivalry takes place this weekend.
