The Palo Alto High School boys’ water polo team (21-4, 10-2) hopes to continue to the De Anza League finals by defeating Mountain View High School (12-10, 8-4) in the semifinals today at home.
The Vikings have beaten Mountain View twice this season, 6-4 and 9-8, but that will not make today’s game any easier, according to junior middle defender Seth Alston.
“It’s always hard to beat the same team three times in one season,” Alston said. We’re just gonna try to focus on good defense and shut down their high scoring players.”
Making it to the semifinals is already an accomplishment, according to Alston.
“This is the best we’ve done as long as I’ve been here,” Alston said. “It’s important to get out and play every game, especially for the seniors, because it will be their last couple of games with Paly.”
In the end, Alston is confident that if Paly plays their best, they can pull off a win and continue in the league tournament.
The game will take place at 4:20 p.m. t0day at the Paly pool.
