The Palo Alto High School boys’ water polo team (3-1) will take on Los Altos High School (2-2) this evening in a much anticipated league game.
The Vikings have had a strong start in league, falling only to crosstown rival Henry M. Gunn High School 14-7. They are up for a challenge today, according to senior captain Ethan Look.
“They [Los Altos] have a really good team, they’re strong, they’re physical, and they’re fast,” Look said.
According to Look, the Vikings must focus on defense if they want to succeed tonight, especially to stop the Eagles’ strongest player.
“We have to play tough defense all day,” Look said. “They have one guy, Sam Lisbon, who is extremely good. We have to watch where he is at all times and control him.”
Senior captain Omri Newman echoes Look’s sentiment that today’s game will not be easy.
“I want to see everyone being really aggressive,” Newman said. “It’s going to be war today and I want to see the guys picking up their games.”
The Vikings will take on the Eagles at 3:30 p.m. today at the Paly pool.
