The Palo Alto High School student directory will be online this year, saving the Parent Teacher Student Association about $1500 to $2000 according to Barbara Clark, PTSA vice president of communications.
The online directory is more environmentally friendly and is a better service according to the email sent to parents.
“The printed directory requires a lot of volunteer hours and, therefore, wasn’t usually available until late October,” Clark wrote in an email.
Paper copies will still be given to freshmen and there will be a few extra copies available for the first few who prefer the paper version according to an email written to Paly parents.
The online directory allows users to search by first and last names of students and parents. All families who allowed their email to be shared in the directory have automatic access to the directory at paly.tangledir.com. Families who did not share their email can contact [email protected] to request access.
Although some parents may still prefer the printed copies, the online site is more economical and efficient, according to Clark.
“I expect some problems/bugs will need to be worked out, but I believe with time it will be accepted by parents,” Clark wrote.
