The Palo Alto High School varsity football team will begin the season at home in a highly anticipated game against San Benito at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow at the recently renovated Viking Stadium.
Senior tight end Tully McCalister is confident in the outcome of the game.
“We’ve been going through every play against San Benito so there won’t be any surprises,” McCalister said. “Personally, I don’t think we have any weak points on the field. We’re just an all around solid team.”
Senior free safety Connor Scheel shares McCalister’s enthusiasm for the first game.
“We are a young team but the talent is there.” Scheel said. “As long as we stay focused there is nothing getting in our way. We have been focusing on stopping their offense and making plays on both sides of the ball.”
McCalister predicted that the game could get rough.
“It will be a very physical game, but in the end we will come out with a win,” McCalister said. “I’ve played against San Benito several times and I think our biggest challenge will be staying aggressive throughout the entire game.”
