The Palo Alto Board of Education will review the 2013-2014 Focused Goals at tonight’s meeting. After discussion today, the Board will be asked to approve them on Sep. 10.
The initiative includes 11 proposed goals, each of which has been under development since late June. Each goal includes an initiative, a plan of action for how to achieve the desired outcome and a metric to measure success. One of the goals is to “ensure safe and positive school environments,” which will be measured by survey results, according to a Palo Alto Unified School District report. The Annual Proposed Goals are a section of the Strategic Plan Initiative, which was adopted in May of this year.
In addition, the Board will discuss extending a lease of district property at 525 San Antonio with Athena Academy, a nonprofit private elementary school that specializes in teaching students with dyslexia. The lease currently expires on June 30, 2014, and the extension would allow Athena Academy to remain until June 30, 2015.
The meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. tonight in the administration building on 25 Churchill Avenue, after a closed session at 5:30 p.m. in which the Board will discuss labor negotiations.
