A class of 20 students will present its Science Research Projects at 2:30 p.m.today in rooms 1701, 1708, 1709 and 1710 of the science building.
The Science Research Project class provides a way for students to receive academic credit for research done outside of Palo Alto High School.
“I think the great opportunity [that] the students get to work with generous mentors is the most exciting part [of Science Research Projects],” science teacher Keith Geller said.
Senior Sara Billman is one of the students who will present her Science Research Projects. Under the mentorship of Alexis Fields of the Stanford School of Medicine, Billman has spent a year and a half working on “Vivamos Activos Fair Oaks,” a study that researches the effect of environmental factors on weight loss.
“I really have loved the experience of a hands-on research assignment and getting to work with such passionate people,” Billman said. “It has really made me excited for the possibilities in the future.”
