The Palo Alto High School Parent Teacher Student Association will have a general association meeting from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. tomorrow in the English Resource Center.
Topics will include the alignment of classes in the same subject, the school calendar and graduation scheduling, according to the Paly Link.
“The calendar for 2014-15 and beyond will be coming up for consideration at the school board at some point, so people who have views about the placement of the end of the semester would be interested [in attending the meeting],” PTSA president Rebecca Fox said. “In addition, some parents are concerned about the placement of graduation before the end of underclassmen finals.”
Also, due to the district-wide increase in enrollment, the PTSA and the Palo Alto Unified School District are considering the opening of a third high school, according to Fox.
“It’s been in discussion for a few years but there hasn’t been a concrete proposal,” Fox said. “It will be interesting to hear the status at the meeting on Thursday.”
Paly Principal Phil Winston and school district board member Barb Mitchell will be participating in the discussions.
“It is a good chance for parents to have an informal discussion of the topics listed in the agenda and to have parents’ voices directly heard by the principal and by Ms. Mitchell of the school board,” Fox said.
