Student voting for next year’s Associated Student Body positions starts Wednesday March 27, exclusively through a new online voting system aimed at increasing this year’s turnout, according to Student Activities Director Matt Hall.
Hall hopes that the new paperless system will allow and encourage more students to vote this time around. Last year only 19-22 percent of the student body took part in the write-in voting, the only option last election, Hall said.
Candidates officially began campaigning Monday, March 25, and the candidates’ video speeches and statements are now posted on the ASB website and Facebook page.
Voting will close at 3:25 p.m. on Friday, March 29, and students can expect to see the elections results, posted on both ASB pages, sometime over the following weekend, according to Hall.
Once voting opens students will be able to cast a single vote for each position using their student ID number as their log in. Voting will be available here starting Wednesday, March 27.
