***Update: INfocus has published its website at www.palyinfocus.com***
INfocus, Palo Alto High School’s broadcast journalism class, will launch its own website later this week.
After going off air in late January due to broadcasting difficulties, the new website will be a reliable source for the studio’s daily broadcast, according to senior Executive Producer Ethan Cohen.
The website, a first for the award-winning broadcast network, will host a collection of INfocus’s daily broadcasts, breaking news updates and longer feature videos.
“The site will have all of the content you’ve come to expect from INfocus, including news packages and features and even our more entertaining pieces,” Cohen said. “It will also have all of our daily broadcasts as well as additional, more immediate content.”
Cohen, who has been on the INfocus staff since the start of the 2011 school year, hopes that the website will allow for an increase in viewership and expand INfocus’s influence.
“Like all forms of journalism, broadcast is increasingly moving online,” he said. “We felt that our YouTube and Facebook sites, while useful, simply are not adequate to support our program’s increasing needs.”
While INfocus has had an online presence for years on sites such as Youtube and Facebook, it did not consider launching its own website to host all of its content until last year.
“This [the website] has been an idea that has been floating around for a year or so but it really kicked into gear about a month ago,” Cohen said.
