The Palo Alto High School choir classes will be performing their annual pops concert at 7 p.m. today and tomorrow in the Haymarket Theater.
This year’s theme is “Beatles vs. Stones and Other Musical Rivalries,” according to the event’s Facebook page.
The pops concert is the most relaxed of all the choir concerts, according to junior choir member Aaron Slipper. Anybody can sing a solo if they so choose, giving it a more inclusive, less pressured atmosphere.
“It [the pops concert] gives everyone an opportunity to shine if they want, which is a great way to grow confidence in a choir,” junior choir member Sarah Ohlson said.
Due to the all-inclusive, no-audition process of the pops concert, choir members are given the freedom to perform whatever they want.
“Individuals can do solos, get together and do duets, and the standard a capella groups will each be performing,” Slipper said.
Those who attend can expect an evening full of musical performances, from solos to a cappella groups to huge, all-choir numbers.
