A gas line broke on the corner of Junipero Serra Boulevard and Campus Drive West, Stanford, at 6:20 p.m. Friday, according to PG&E.
“They’ve been doing construction on the roads there, and something must have gone wrong,” said Steve Esterly, a Palo Alto parent.
According to a College Terrace resident who lives nearby the site of the accident, things are under control. PG&E is already working to fix the problem, and traffic has been rerouted to avoid the area. The fire and police departments are also on site.
“We currently have a team of workers on site working to fix the issue,” said a representative of PG&E.
Residents who live within three-fourths of a mile from the leak have been advised to remain indoors.
More to come as more information becomes available.
