Vocal duo, and Palo Alto High School students, “Remi and Chloe” plans to perform original songs and covers during its Nov. 8 concert at Angelica’s Bell Theater in Redwood City.
The duo features juniors Remi Wolf and Chloe Zilliac who began singing together at a young age and plan to continue pursuing their musical careers.
“We started performing together when we were in middle school when we sang in a trio with our friend Tatiana Boyle,” Zilliac said. “When she went to Gunn, we started performing as a duo. Both of us have been singing in various vocal groups since middle school.”
The duo’s music is largely based off of acoustic guitar; however, a variety of music, including covers and originals will be featured at their upcoming concert.
“We write original music and do covers,” Zilliac said. “Our first original song, “Carousel,” has been professionally recorded and is now on iTunes. We are planning on recording three other original songs later this month. We also are continuing to learn and put our own spin on covers.”
After auditioning at a local cafe during an open mic, the duo was chosen to sing at the concert.
“We performed at an open mic at Angelica’s Bistro as a sort of audition and were selected to perform a gig,” Zilliac said.
Wolf and Zilliac will be playing two sets during their concert and hope that Paly students attend to support them.
“We will be playing two 45 minute sets on Nov. 8, one on our own as a duo, and another with a full band backing us up,” Zilliac said. “We would really love if Paly students would go.”
As for the future of “Remi and Chloe,” Zilliac and Wolf hope to continue working together and potentially pursue an education in music.
“As a duo, we are hoping to finish recording an EP [extended play], and eventually an album,” Zilliac explained. “An EP is a CD with just a couple of songs, like four or five, which you give out to people in order to promote your band. We are also considering studying music in college.”
