Palo Alto High School students can enjoy five more minutes of brunch on Thursdays thanks to a schedule change effective this week.
Student and staff complained that brunch felt too short on Thursdays, leading the administration to modify Thursday’s bell schedule, according to principal Phil Winston.
“The feedback that we’ve gotten from students is that they feel rushed, hurried and that they don’t have enough time to take care of their needs,” Winston said. “The same with staff. What appears to be a short brunch is really the same length of time as last year’s Tuesday [brunch]; however, since Advisory was before brunch [last year], it made brunch feel much longer.”
Winston explained that five minutes during fourth period previously dedicated to the fourth period representative system would be redirected to brunch.
“Since there were five minutes extra in fourth period on Thursday for fourth period reps, we collected feedback from every possible point on campus and made the decision to capture those five minutes and move it towards brunch so students can have a relaxed, less stressful brunch,” Winston said.
