The Palo Alto High School volleyball team (15-2) will face the St. Francis Lancers (11-2) tonight in a battle between last season’s Division I and II state volleyball champions.
The Vikings are currently ranked 18th in California while the Lancers sit at 11th, according to MaxPreps.
Paly won the High Sierra Tournament in Reno to start the season with a 9-0 record. The Vikings beat Presentation and Sacred Heart Prep, but lost two of its four games in the Archbishop Mitty Invitational Tournament Sept. 16 and 17. The Vikings are coming off of consecutive wins over Gunn and Mountain View.
Seniors Maddie Kuppe and Melanie Wade lead the team this year. Wade was named to the preseason All-American team compiled by Kevin Askeland of MaxPreps.
The game will take place tonight at 6:45 p.m. in Paly’s main gym.
