The Palo Alto High School Back to School Dance will be held Friday from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. on the quad.
The dance, held annually by the Associated Student Body, will have the theme “Alphabet Soup,” according to ASB president and senior Uma Veerappan. Whereas in past years students have dressed the same under unified themes, this year students will be dressing up differently, based on their names.
“Students will dress up as something that starts with the first letter of their name,” Veerappan said. “I feel like this is a great theme for the first dance because people can also get to know other people’s names.”
Ticket sales started Wednesday and will continue throughout the week until Friday, Aug. 26, selling for $5 each on the quad with a Paly ID, according to the dance’s Facebook event.
Veerappan is optimistic that the dance will be received well with the student body.
“I predict that this dance will be a great success,” she said. “It’s on the quad, which most students are pumped about, and it’s also the first dance of the year.”
