State Sen. Joe Simitian, D-Palo Alto, will host an “education update” meeting Saturday to discuss aspects of Gov. Jerry Brown’s budget proposal and education legislation, according to a press release.
Simitian will provide an update on the K-12 education legislation and funding problems pending in Sacramento and then will open the floor to questions and comments.
“These ‘Education Updates’ give me an opportunity to hear what local education leaders and advocates are thinking,” Simitian stated in the release. “Knowing that helps me better serve our local schools and kids.”
“Given the current budget situation, it’s more important than ever for elected officials to hear from the folks they represent,” Simitian added.
The meeting will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Palo Alto Unified School District headquarters at 25 Churchill Ave. and will be open to parents, students, administrators and “other education advocates.” To RSVP, click here.
