The former editors of Palo Alto High School’s newspaper, The Campanile, released the names of six new editors-in-chief Monday during seventh period, and will now resume their posts on the staff.
Juniors Annabel Snow, Kirah Ingram, Lauren Wong, Hannah Totte, Brian Benton and Michael Abrams will lead The Campanile for the remainder of this year and next year, according to former Editor-in-Chief Nadav Gavrielov. According to Gavrielov, the new editors underwent a long application process that began in late March.
“Applicants had to submit applications, hold interviews with the current editorial board, and a host of other tasks had to be completed,” Gavrielov said. “The candidates for editor also had two production cycles to prove to us that they were ready to take on this role.”
In looking for a new team of editors, Gavrielov and his co-editors focused on creating a group.
“Rather than just looking at individual characteristics, we looked at how these candidates would work with each other and the class,” he said.
All of the new editors have worked on the newspaper for at least a year, enabling them to understand its strengths and needed areas of improvement, according to Gavrielov.
“We [the former editors-in-chief] know that next years’ editors have a lot of great ideas for how they hope to improve The Campanile whether it be through new ways to run the class, new layout designs, or even new ideas for the online version of our paper,” Gavrielov said.
Gavrielov expressed his thoughts on the editorial board selections:
“We have the utmost confidence in the new editors’ ability to lead The Campanile next year and we know that they will exceed our expectations as editors,” Gavrielov said.
