After a long game Thursday afternoon, Palo Alto High School lacrosse (9-7-0) dominated Leland High School (8-6-1), 14-5.
Within the first 12 minutes of the game, the Vikings jumped ahead of the Chargers with a lead of two points, 3-1. Paly maintained its offense and pressured Leland to stay on defense for most of the first half.
With only seven minutes left in the first half of the game, Paly took the lead with a total of six goals. With five minutes left in the first half, Leland turned up its offensive pressure in attempt to close the gap between the points. Leland succeeded in reducing the gap to four points, 7-3.
As the second half started, Paly increased its perimeter offense by using perimeter passing with many offensive players. The Vikings widened the gap by three points to 10-3 within the first three minutes of the second half.
With five minutes left of the game, No. 20 from the rival team received a yellow card, leaving the Chargers to finish the game one player short.
The Vikings dominated the Chargers with a total of nine points, ending the game, 14-5.
