After defeating Los Gatos High School 13-8 on Tuesday, the Palo Alto Vikings girls’ lacrosse team (11-7) is heading to their next game against Leland (8-5-1), hoping to keep its five game winning streak.
Looking at the up coming game, sophomore Emma Beckstrom has no doubt about winning.
“We want to kick them [Leland] to the turf,” Beckstrom said. “We’re really hoping to dominate from beginning to end and show what Paly lacrosse is all about. I’m confident that we can accomplish just that in our upcoming game.”
Although Paly’s season isn’t going as well as hoped, many players still remain optimistic about finishing the season on a strong note.
“We have not done very well out of season, but in season we have done really well,” said junior defender Emy Kelty. “The only in league game we lost was by one. We should not have a problem against Leland. We are going for a blowout win.”
Junior attacker Kimmie Flather agrees.
“We’ve started out the season by playing some of the top teams in North California and usually ended with a loss, which has made our record suffer,” Flather said.
With a strong bond between teammates and the leadership of key players, Paly is able to stay strong.
Beckstrom notes that how the leadership of Head Coach Jamie Nesbitt and cooperation of the whole team keeps the team running.
“We have some unsung hero’s that are under-appreciated,” Beckstrom said. “We couldn’t have had the success that we have without every single player. I’d say the key is our amazing coach.”
Paly’s game against Leland High School will be at 4 pm on Thursday at Paly’s lacrosse field.
