The Palo Alto High School anti-human trafficking club Not For Sale will host an event to promote the anti-slavery and human trafficking organization Freedom House during lunch on Wednesday in the English Resource Center.
Freedom House is a non-profit organization that opened a shelter home in the Bay Area for victims of human trafficking. A representative from Freedom House will be at the event to speak about modern manifestations of slavery.
Club president Eyra Dordi started the club this year to promote the issue of human trafficking.
“I started this club this year after I saw a newspaper article this summer in India on the subject of human trafficking, and started reading up on it,” Dordi said. “I realized how prevalent the issue is, and how people here are inadvertently benefiting from slave labor. I got some of my friends interested, and we’ve been trying to spread awareness to the student body.”
