According to a letter to students from Assistant Principal Kim Diorio, tomorrow’s Tutorial includes new and updated options.
In order to ensure that the library remains conducive to reading and quiet study, only students with a library Tutorial pass will be allowed into the library, according to assistant librarian Deborah Henry.
Last week’s Tutorial saw the library overflowing with students, many of whom genuinely wanted to study, Henry said. Unfortunately, others came to library as a default place to hang out, which ended up making it really loud.
“We just want to make sure there is enough room for people to sit comfortably, and to hear,” she said.
Henry said that fewer than 100 passes will be issued, and interested students can obtain one at the circulation desk prior to Tutorial.
As an alternative to the library, rooms 29 and 31 in the Tower Building will also be open for quiet work and study, according to Diorio.
“College tutors will be available to help students there,” Diorio said.
Additionally, the Academic Resource Center will only be open for tutoring and exam make-ups. Students must visit either of the ARC coordinators prior to Tutorial in order to reserve a desk for a make-up or to arrange tutoring during that time, according to Diorio.
In the College and Career Center and Guidance Department, students can schedule appointments to meet with staff members beforehand. They should speak with Jenny Stone, the Guidance Department secretary, or the college advisers, Diorio said.
As an alternative to studying, students can check in at the dance studio for stretching and relaxation, the small gym for basketball, the big gym for badminton, or the weight room for weight training, Diorio said. Athletic clothes are required in the weight room.
Diorio added that students can still only visit one place during Tutorial tomorrow.
“Though the administration ultimately aims to let students visit multiple locations during a single tutorial period, the system is not ready to accommodate this yet,” she said. “Don’t forget ID [student identification] cards!”
