The Paly Voice asked students and teachers how they would like the bell schedule to be changed for next year.
“I think a four-day block schedule would be overwhelming and tiring. The current schedule with a late start would be best.” – Leander Angst, senior
“I’m fine with the current schedule.” – Haley Kasof, freshman
“I like having school end early, so if it could just be a little bit later that would be good. I also like the four-day block schedule so we have more time with teachers and to work on projects in class.” – Manny Cervantes, sophomore
“I like the current schedule but we should start 30 to 45 minutes later. I think the four-day block schedule would suck, especially for math because you need to have the same amount of homework per week as a two-day block schedule. That means we’d probably end up having two homeworks a night, which would be awful.” – Natalie Campen, senior
“Personally, I love the four-day block schedule. Teachers will be able to change their teaching; we’d have more time to do discovery-style projects in math instead of all lectures. It would allow for a different math lesson while decreasing stress for students and teachers.” – Charlotte Harris, math teacher
“I’d want the two-day block schedule. My teacher said that we’d have more homework per day if we only saw them three days a week.” – Shawn Fotsch, sophomore
“I think there should be a later start, like having school from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. I also like the four-day block schedule.” – Emily Efland, junior
“I don’t like any block periods because they get boring after a while and all the test days between classes get lumped together. I’d love a later start, like at 8:30 a.m.” – Alexander Jenson, freshman
“The four-day block because we can get a lot more done in a block period and we can take a break from a class every other day.” – David Weller, senior
“School should start later; I liked the 8:45 a.m. start that we had first semester. I don’t have a preference about block days.” – Christina Christiansen, sophomore
