The Paly Voice asked students what Olympic events they watched.
“I saw some skiing events and watched women’s figure skating.” – Mira Khanna, junior
“I’ve watched snowboarding, cross country skiing and a lot of others. It’s kind of fun watching the people wipe out. Also the beginning of the Olympics, I thought that was pretty cool. It was kind of anticlimactic though.” – Charles Lockner, junior
“I barely watch the Olymipcs because I didn’t have enough time compared to the Summer Olympics.” – Byron Sanborn, sophomore
“I watched hockey. I also watched curling, and it was so boring. I watched it for half an hour, and I was trying to figure it out.” – Jasmine Tosky, sophomore
“I watched skiing. Oh, and I also watched curling actually. Actually, I hate curling; I don’t know why I watched it. To be honest, I was giving curling a bad rap, so I thought fairly I should watch the sport. And then I watched it and found its bad rap very well deserved. I also watched downhill skiing. It’s like Nascar, you kind of want to see a crash happen. And then when it did happen I just felt really bad, because the poor guy made it to the Olympics and crashed.” – Arjun Singh, senior
“I watched some of the downhill skiing.” – Jack Bungarden, teacher
“I watched a lot of hockey and cheered for the US. I was pretty happy because we won 5-3 and we are the number one seed.” – Jeremy Laufer, junior
“I watched speed skating. It was really good because I saw Apolo Ohno and it was really awesome.” – Nikki Whitson, sophomore
“I watched Shaun White in men’s halfpipe. That’s my favorite Olympic sport because I’m a snowboarder.” – Dylan Athens, freshman
“I watched the opening ceremonies because it was the most interesting and very cultural. I didn’t get to see the Summer Olympics though. I missed it, just like I missed the Grammys.” – Celeste Woods, sophomore
“I have watched curling. Because it’s awesome.” – Chris Tang, senior
“I watched curling. I only watched one part for half an hour, and I wanted to watch figure skating.” – Paulette Din, sophomore
“I watched ski jumping and ski cross and snowboard halfpipe. Ski cross is the sickest, because there are a lot of crashes, and they go fast, and there’s a lot of them on the course.” – Josh Rapperport, junior
“I saw snowboarding, but we don’t have a TV, so I had to see it at a friend’s house. And that’s the saddest part. Usually we don’t care much about TV, and so with the Olympics, we feel like we are missing out on something huge, so we have to go to our friend’s house. So we watched a little bit of figure skating, and we watched snowboarding.” – Benjamin Bolanos, teacher
