In the aftermath of Tuesday night’s egging incident, the Associated Student Body has come forward and sent a letter of apology and met with the Gunn High School administration to discuss future steps towards reconciliation.
In a letter faxed to Gunn Principal Noreen Likins Wednesday afternoon, ASB apologized to the Gunn student body for the damage caused.
“There is no excuse for such destructive and boorish behavior,” the letter said. “We are deeply ashamed and can only hope that we can make restitution in the coming days. When it is appropriate, we would welcome an opportunity to sit down with you to listen to your thoughts.”
This opportunity came Friday during second period when ASB President Osceola Ward, Social Commissioner Hanna Brody and Spirit Commissioner Alex Freeman visited the Gunn administration.
“We met with the head of maintenance staff, the principal and two assistant principals,” Ward said. “In the future we would like to meet with the Gunn ASB students.”
During the meeting the Paly ASB students apologized again and talked about future activities between Paly and Gunn.
“We apologized and we talked about working together in the future… to prevent something like that from happening again,” Ward said.
Freeman added, “We discussed the costs of cleanup and moving forward with joint activities.”
The Gunn administration and Paly ASB agree that the meeting was a success.
“It was a very nice gesture on the part of Paly,” said Gunn Assistant Principal Tom Jacoubowsky.
Editor’s Note: The Associated Student Body’s apology was sent to Gunn High School Principal Noreen Likins, but addressed to the Gunn student body. The current version of this story reflects this change.
