Chloe Chen and Maya Shemtov of The Paly Voice recap the week of Oct. 19-23.
Below is a complete transcript of the above podcast.
Chen: Hi Paly, this is Chloe Chen and Maya Shemtov of Voice, bringing you the latest news from the Paly campus for this week.
Shemtov: This past weekend was filled with exciting Paly team competitions. Some members of the debate team reached elimination rounds at the New York City Invitational and brought home shiny trophies.
Chen: The boys’ and girls’ cross-country teams finished ninth and 18th respectively out of 28 teams at their Concordia Classic meet in Oregon. The football team tied 20-20 with Homestead last Friday, and Paly’s overtime tiebreaker win will only be used in the final standings if necessary.
Shemtov: In other news, the Site Council is considering replacing InClass with a more streamlined, secure and user-friendly system. Among the features requested that InClass fails to provide is a digital dropbox, master schedule and a mobile interface.
Chen: Additionally, Site Council reports that football field renovations have been delayed to explore alternatives to cutting down the sycamore trees.
Shemtov: Paly journalism has begun an unprecedented collaboration with Creative Commons, which will allow stories to be legally and fairly shared with the public. Paly is one of the first three high schools in the country, along with Monta Vista High School and Sacred Heart High School, to begin this licensing that will revolutionize the way journalism is distributed online.
Chen: That’s all for this week. Be sure to dress up for Spirit Week! Monday is theme day, Tuesday is salad dressing, Wednesday is class color, Thursday is generations and Friday is Paly spirit day. If you have any news that you think we might miss, e-mail us at [email protected].
