The Paly Voice asked students what they think of the new prom transportation policy recently rolled out by the Paly administration.
“I think they’re going to have, like, five people going to the prom. Prom’s about showing off; it’s about going out with a hot chick and not sitting in a crappy old bus.” — Blake Tacklind, junior
“I think it’s disrespectful of them to not take our input into consideration and for [Principal Jacqueline] McEvoy just to decide on her own without any student input.” — Timothy Kim, junior
“There’s lots of other schools that do it, and it’s less expensive, so it’s not that big of a deal.” — Simone Verbaken, senior
“Well, since it’s less [in cost] than a limo, fine…I guess.” — Nathan Wilen, junior
“I didn’t know that [the policy change] happened. I think kids should have other options if they have plans afterward.” — Katie Blansett, junior
“I think it’s childish. If we’re getting breathalyzed there, what’s the point of taking a bus there?” — Sean Keohane, senior
“I don’t understand why we can’t go in limos if we can afford them.” — Jay Nguyen, senior
“I don’t think it [prom] will be half as fun. It’s definitely better for everyone to ride with their friends and enjoy themselves.” — Charmane Breckenridge, sophomore
“That’s really unfair that she [Dr. McEvoy] is taking such a serious action on such a fun Paly tradition.” — Sam Greene, sophomore
“That’s the way it is; that’s the administration. We tried to fight it and it’s not favorable, but she’s [Dr. McEvoy is] the principal.” — Erik Klingbeil, senior
