Archbishop Mitty’s volleyball team, the No. 1 ranked team in the nation, ended the Lady Vikes’ season in a three-set sweep during the Central Coast Section (CCS) semifinals playoff game on Wednesday night.
Playing at Valley Christian High School in San Jose, the Lady Vikes dropped the first set, 25-14, but were not about to let their season end without a fight. They valiantly battled the Monarchs in the second match, but lost, 25-23. They then dropped the third set, 25-10.
The Lady Vikes have a lot to be proud about this season, even though it was cut short. After consecutive 27-win seasons, the team won 33 games this season, stepping its game up to the next level. The Lady Vikes also won their first outright league title in at least five years.
The team has a lot to look forward to next season. With a majority of underclassmen on the team this year, it will look to repeat or improve upon this year’s success.
The graduating seniors of this year’s team are Ally Whitson, Allison Coleman, Sarah Kurihara, Helene Zahoudanis, Eliza Stevens and Daniella Florant.
