Vandals attacked the Paly campus over the long weekend, breaking into the school’s library, and defacing the doors of the Paly World Language and Math buildings with red paint, condoms, and syrup.
Yesterday at approximately 1:30 p.m., librarian Rachel Kellerman, walked into her building and found vandalism throughout most of the library. According to Kellerman, there were various pictures of Mao Zedong, furniture was rearranged, and the space bars were stolen from each of the library computers.
“They [the culprits] made some mistakes which make us confident that we will catch them” said assistant principal Jerry Berkson. “People don’t think when they do these things.”
This morning at 6:39 a.m., Norman Masuda, one of the language departments instructional supervisors, reported the vandalism of the World Language building. According to Berkson, red paint was used to write attack messages against Paly and certain teachers, and condoms were hung from door handles and filled with syrup.
“The public will get tired of these things,” Berkson said. “They [the vandals] were smart enough not to do stupid things, but the fact that they broke in is a big deal, and we will be pressing charges.”
