Fletcher physical education teacher Peter Colombo, who was accused of sexually assaulting a student during the 2001-2002 school year, is no longer working for the Palo Alto Unified School District, effective last week, according to district board documents.
Colombo was arrested in 2022 on charges that he allegedly sexually assaulted a sixth grader 20 years prior. When he was reinstated to teach this school year, parents and students expressed their concerns at the August board meeting.
Colombo’s departure follows the district awarding $3.25 million to him after the two parties settled a lawsuit last month in which Colombo claimed the district mismanaged his case.
The district Human Resources Department did not respond to our request to comment.
