Students are looking forward to the senior vs. staff basketball game and this year’s Prom location reveal during an extended lunch break for the Winter Rally on Wednesday at Palo Alto High School.
Alyssa Bond, director of the Associated Student Body, said she and her students have been working hard to plan this rally for a long time.
“It gets on the calendar really early and we make sure that we have it on our radar,” Bond said. “Since it’s during lunch, it’s not really the same as an after school rally. We just wanted to make sure there are fun things for students to watch and see and do, and have a good atmosphere for students to hang out in, so our spirit commissioners have been hard at work making sure the logistics are set.”
According to Spirit Commissioner Arabella Guinle, even recurring events like the upcoming Winter Rally require a lot of planning.
“As simple as a rally may seem, people might think you just show up, play some games and leave, but there’s so much work that goes into rallies — crazy little things that you don’t think of,” Guinle said.
According to ASB Treasurer Paul Wang, the rally is a great opportunity to bring students together with school spirit.
“Students can expect a fun, exciting rally and learn the location of prom this year,” Wang said. “The purpose of the event is to get everyone, particularly the upperclassmen, to get together and build up hype around prom, and for us to have a fun basketball game between the seniors and the teachers.”
Many students are excited for the event, including sophomore Teague Langdon.
“I’m looking forward to watching the game with my friends, participating in spirit, and just enjoying the atmosphere,” Langdon said. “It’s a fun way to unite students and also the staff.”
