At the week’s most anticipated rally, enthusiastic students packed Earl Hansen Viking Stadium on Friday afternoon to watch the floats and dances before the evening football game an Saturday’s Homecoming dance.
The freshman class kicked off the event with their dance and Finding Nemo-themed float, featuring songs such as, “Under the Sea.” Next came the sophomore class with a life-sized fire truck as a float and a coordinated dance performance. Freshman Emeka Dozie said the last rally was a great way to end Spirit Week.
“There was lots of energy and we tried our best,” Dozie said. “Its been really fun to dress up and just be involved in everything.”
Next, the junior class filled the field with yellow as they danced while showcasing their Yellow Brick Road-themed float.
Last but not least, the senior class came marching to the center of the field, arms linked together performing their act while their Monopoly themed float made its way down the track. According to Associated Student Body member and junior Jessica Wong, this rally was the most exciting of the week.
“By presenting the floats and bringing them around, people get really hyped as soon as the floats pass through as the dance is going on,” Wong said. “It’s really great to see so much class spirit.”
The seniors performance included songs such as “We are the Champions,” By Queen and D.J. Khaled’s “All I do is win” which have been featured for every senior class dance in years past. With their defeat at the Thursday rally, the seniors hosted an early morning dance practice in preparation for the rally performance.
According to senior Kaitlyn Gonzalez, her class planned to have a practice as the last chance to get the performance together.
“A lot of people showed up and it was a really great turn out,” Gonzalez said before the afternoon rally. “We all have worked really hard over the past month to really lock down this dance. I hope that the seniors have an amazing last run.”
According to sophomore Kane Do, he enjoyed his second Spirit Week.
“It was really fun,” Do said. “Everyone popped out there with a lot of spirit.”
The total points for Spirit Week are as follows:
