Snowcones and news games will make their debut at Palo Alto High School’s annual Field Day event, which will take place on the Quad during lunch tomorrow.

Field Day is a Paly tradition sponsored by the Associated Student Body and the Parent Teacher Student Association.

Because of Field Day, there will be a special schedule that includes a 75-minute lunch with 45-minute classes. Students will attend shortened versions of all seven of their classes.

According to Paly’s Associated Student Body, this year’s activities include Mega Euro Bungee, Quarterback Blitz, Hoop Shot, in addition to new ones such as Speed Pitch, Golf Dart.

Additionally, hamburgers and hot dog lunches will be provided for students. Snow cone machines are also being introduced this year, according to ASB Sophomore Vice President Shannon Zhao.

“The Otterpops offered during last year’s Field Day were a great idea and I can’t wait for the snow cone machine,” sophomore Rohan Maheshwarren said.

Most students are looking to take advantage of the day as a stress reliever, according to sophomore John Labib.

“The long lunch will definitely help students unwind and relax especially since finals are coming up,” Labib said.

Many students use the opportunity to hang out with friends according to senior James Forman.

“I usually go to downtown to get lunch with friends or I go home,” Forman said.

According to ASB’s website, the food provided this year will cost around $2,500 and the activities will cost $8,395.
