To kick off the new school year, the Palo Alto High School Associated Student Body organized a lunchtime rally on Friday, complete with a relay race and performance.
Junior ASB Spirit Commissioner Cezanne Lane was delighted with the outcome of the rally.
“Everyone seemed really excited about it,” Lane said. “I kind of think of this rally as a hint to the freshmen, like ‘Hey, we are super into our spirit and we want you to be too!’”
The Paly Dance Team performed a dance choreographed by senior captains Melanie Guan and Emma Sternfield. Sternfield participated in the Cheer Team’s routine, which the cheerleaders learned over the summer.
“I feel like the performance was successful in bringing spirit and good energy to the start of the school year,” Sternfield said.
Overall, Lane wanted the freshmen to get a feel for Paly’s enthusiastic environment.
“I hope they [freshmen] were able to see from the rally how spirited, but also how strong the Paly community is,” Lane said.
The sophomores finished first, and the seniors claimed second place.
