Slideshow: Rocket Fizz candy store adds color to University Avenue

Published February 7, 2013

Unique candy shop Rocket Fizz opened up at 250 University Ave. just under two months ago, but has already made a name for itself in the Palo Alto community. Specializing in hard-to-find candies and sodas, the shop also boasts an array of vintage-inspired posters and assorted trinkets.

Decked out from floor to ceiling in colorful candy, Rocket Fizz was the closet we've ever gotten to experiencing an actual Willy Wonka's Factory. Although lacking in singing oompa loompas, the store was decked out with giant animals and superhero cutouts. Photo by Phoebe So.

Reminiscent of days gone by, 50s style tin posters adorn the walls of Rocket Fizz and are available for purchase. The store also offers a wide variety of whimsical toys, such as bacon flavored toothpaste to hold off any future cavities customers may acquire from consuming bags of sugary treats (don't worry, the cavities would have been worth it).
