Palo Alto High School students anticipate a night full of fun and exercise as the 29th Annual Moonlight Run takes place Friday night from 7 to 10 p.m. under the light of a full moon at the Baylands Athletic Center.
Senior Tully McCallister is looking forward to the annual event.
“I’m pretty excited for the Moonlight Run,” McCallister said. “Me and all my friends are going. It’s a classic thing for us to do. Going every year is a tradition so we gotta do it.”
Many Paly students enjoy participating in the event with their friends, including senior Paul Biename.
“The Moonlight Run is a great opportunity to get a group of friends to go out and do something,” Biename said. “It’s also at night in the baylands so it is relaxing. It’s more of a community event than a race.”
The Paly cross country team takes it as an opportunity to go out and run, according to freshman Kai Oda.
“It’s just a thing the team does every year,” Oda said. “I like it because it’s at night and it’s cooler than running earlier in the day when it’s really hot.”
While for most it is a relaxing event, some enjoy the chance to compete.
“I got 20th freshman year,” senior Bowen Gerould said.
The five kilometer walk is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., the 10 kilometer run at 8:15 p.m. and the five kilometer run at 8:45 p.m.
