A contest to design a logo for the upcoming digital library, hosted by the Palo Alto and Gunn High School libraries, will run through the month of November.
“The Palo Alto Partners of Education gave us a grant of $11,000 to create a digital download library for audio and e-books using a company called Overdrive, which is the largest provider in the world,” Paly librarian Rachel Kellerman said.
The librarians are working towards a ‘soft launch’ of the website in December in which some students will have the opportunity to test out the site. According to Kellerman, the official launch will likely occur after finals in January.
The library’s current collection includes about 800 books, though the website is still under testing.
“It [the digital library] will run on just about any device — an iPad, an iPhone, a Kindle, a Nook,” Kellerman said. “I think it will be great for our community to have access to books 24/7.”
Students who wish to submit their logos for the website can send their designs to Ms. Kellerman at [email protected]. The winner of the contest will receive a prize, that is to be announced.
