Paly ASB will start the year with a school wide rally today at lunch on the quad. The rally is meant for all grades to show spirit, entertain with music and activities, and promote student body bonding.“The First Friday Rally” will welcome the class of 2015, connecting them to the Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors, according to Paly’s new Student Activities Director Matt Hall. “There will be a few games and [the rally] will introduce [the freshmen] to a couple campus groups like the cheerleaders, who are confirmed to perform as well,” Hall said.“The whole point of this rally is to unite the Paly student body, play fun games and get pumped for all of the upcoming fall sports,” ASB spirit commissioner Kimmie Flather said. “You can also go out and either represent or cheer on your class while they compete in fun activities.”According to Hall and Flather, a sponge relay race has been planned, as well as one competition that will be a “surprise.”The rally is meant for fun, unlike spirit week which is meant as a class versus class event, according to Hall. Hall will begin the rally by introducing himself and this year’s ASB officers and will be followed by ASB spirit commissioner Lindsay Black, who is spearheading the event. She will lead the activities. The rally is planned to end 5 minutes before the bell to avoid disrupting 5th period, according to Hall.
