Palo Alto High School math teacher Deanna Chute will take a leave of absence from teaching next year.According to Chute, she will stay in Tampa, Fla. to live with her boyfriend who is currently working there.“My boyfriend has a job that is keeping him in Florida for the time being,” Chute said. “I am taking a year off to be with him there.”Chute’s sophomore and junior Advisory will be passed onto fellow math teacher Arne Lim. Chute’s Advisory students and their parents have been alerted of the switch, and Lim is aware of the upcoming responsibility, according to Chute.“Mr. Lim will be taking over as the advisor for my sophomores and juniors,” Chute said. “He and I have already been in communication about the transition and the students and parents involved have been notified.”Chute, who teaches Introduction to Analysis and Calculus and Algebra 1A/Geometry A, knows Lim is fully capable of taking over her Advisory because of his years of experience. “He [Lim] is a seasoned pro and I think my advisees are very lucky,” Chute said. “I know they’ll be in very capable hands.”
