The Palo Alto High School girls’ lacrosse team (1-2) dropped a close game to local power Menlo School (1-1), 8-9. Last season, Paly also lost by a single goal, 11-12.
The first half of the non-league match saw both offenses struggle to hold an advantage. Sophomore Nina Kelty kicked off the scoring for the Vikings in the first minute of the game At the half, the Kinghts were ahead by a goal, 4-5.
The second half proceeded in the same manner, with the teams trading goals late into the game. However, Menlo was able to pull out the victory by shutting down the Vikings in the final minutes of the match to protect their lead.Paly was coming off of an 11-9 victory over rival Gunn High School on Tuesday.The Vikings will play Pioneer High School at 4 p.m. Mar. 22, at the lacrosse field.More information to come.
