The Palo Alto High School boys and girls swim teams (1-0) posted dominant victories over Lynbrook High School during the first Santa Clara Valley Athletic League meet of the season at home on Friday afternoon.
The Viking boys scored 113 points to Lynbrook’s 67, while the Paly girls tallied a commanding 148 points to Lynbrook’s 30.
Paly head coach Danny Dye was pleased with the team’s performance.
“I thought everybody swam really well; I thought they had a really good day,” Dye said. “They’ve been training hard and the last couple weeks they’ve really been able to swim through it.”
Among the top swimmers for the night were juniors Byron Sanborn and Rollin Lau on the boys’ side, as well as freshmen Willie Lee and Andrew Liang. For the girls, seniors Sabrina Lee and Sarah Liang, juniors Jasmine Totsky and Margaret Wenzlau and freshman Jayna Wittenbrink performed particularly well, according to Dye.
“Those are the leaders of the team and the rest of the kids followed suit,” Dye said.
All four divisions of the swim team, varsity boys and girls, in addition to junior varsity boys and girls, won.
The Vikings will face-off against Los Gatos High School on Friday, March 18, 3:30 pm at Los Gatos.
