The Palo Alto High School girls’ swim team performed valiantly in the Central Coast Section championship at the Santa Clara International Swim Center on Saturday, but came up short in their quest for the section title, losing to Archbishop Mitty by 36 points.
The Vikings scored 256.5 points to Mitty’s 292.5 in a heartbreaking duel for the title. Palo Alto was out for revenge after losing to Mitty by only three points last year and the Vikings believed that they had the line up to bring back the CCS title. However, Mitty was too strong across the board and ended Paly’s hope for a section crown.
Sophomore Jasmine Tosky broke both of the CCS records she set in qualifying for the 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard freestyle, with times of 52.77 seconds and 1:44.11 respectively.
