The Palo Alto girls’ water polo team (8-6, 4-2 league) closed the first half of league play with a dominant 14-3 win at Mountain View on Tuesday.
With seven players tallying goals, the Viking defense corralled the Spartans after taking a 4-0 lead in the first quarter.
Sophomore Skylar Dorosin scored a game high of four goals, while junior Haley Conner added three. Seniors Shameem Jamil and Malaika Drebin tossed in two goals apiece while sophomores Rachel Harrus and Anna Glaves, along with freshman Martine LeClerc, each scored one goal.
Junior Sam Banks filled in as goalie for senior June Afshar and sparked the Vikings’ counterattack with deep passes. Palo Alto is now on a two game winning streak after its dramatic 10-9 victory over cross-town rival Gunn High School last Thursday, Oct. 1.
The Vikings’ next game is at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 7 against Saratoga High School.
