Raffel: Hi Paly, this is Helena Raffel and Maya Shemtov of The Paly Voice, bringing you the latest news from the Paly campus for the week of Sept. 14-18, 2009.
Shemtov: The girls’ tennis team beat Lynbrook 6-1 at a home game on Tuesday after school.
The team then lost to Homestead 2-5 on Thursday.
Raffel: In other sports news, Paly’s girls’ water polo team beat Homestead on Thursday, 13-5.
The boy’s team beat Homestead 20-13 on Tuesday.
Shemtov: Paly’s annual Club Day was held Friday at lunch. Each club set up a booth on the quad where students were able to learn about and join the club. The PTSA provided free lunches for all students.
Raffel: In a football game that KTVU aired on television, Archbishop Mitty defeated the Paly team with a score of 35-13.
Shemtov: Paly teacher Paul Kandell, the adviser of The Paly Voice and Verde, was named the 2009 National High School Journalism Teacher of the Year by the Dow Jones Newspaper Fund.
Raffel: History teacher David Rapaport’s planned interview with Georgia congressman John Lewis on Thursday was postponed. The interview will be rescheduled for a later date.
