Art Show club to host travel-themed show today

The Paly Art Show club will host its biggest art show yet from 1 to 5 p.m. today at Lytton Plaza in downtown Palo Alto, according to the press release from the organization.

The club hosts several shows during the year to publicize student art. This art show, sponsored by the City of Palo Alto, is expected to be the most successful show so far for the club due to its extensive publicity and the large sum of 90 submitted artworks, according to sophomore club member Karina Chan.

“With this show, we’ve witnessed more success than ever,” Chan said. “We’ve had so many submissions and our travel show is in such a public place. We have 70 photographs for this show and 20 physical art pieces. Awareness for our club has definitely gone up.”

All submitted artworks, consisting of photographs and paintings by Palo Alto High School students, portray the theme of travel.

“We want this event to not only display the amazing art of Paly students, but also inspire visitors to travel and appreciate our beautiful planet,” sophomore club president William Zhou said. “I think everyone visiting will find something that they will enjoy.”

Club members see this upcoming show and the large audience to be the perfect opportunity to fulfill their mission to publicize student artwork through shows.

“It increases the student’s ability to really make a name for themselves,” Chan said. “It has the potential to really professionalize an artist’s career.”
